Pretty much how I look when I run.

This was super fun. I got the opportunity to animate a series of characters for Nike’s pop up experience “House of Go” in Chicago. The illustrations were done by the super talented Lauren Asta and then I broke them apart and rebuilt character rigs to make them run. There are 6 characters total (including an encouraging hotdog…seriously), and they all have additional run cycles where their arms were back, or up, or they ran and jumped…why? Because, and this is the super cool part, you ran on a giant treadmill that was monitoring your arm positions and if you put your arms back or up the run cycle animations swapped out to reflect your position! Or if you put your arms out to the side, the character jumped in the air! What?!

F’ing awesome.

Below is a sample video shot during the testing phase by Enjoy The Weather. High fives to those crazy folks for letting me get involved. Such a blast. It was fun and challenging to give a series of flat illustrations personality through their movement, and I loved every minute of it.
