Cerveza, te amo.
I’ve done a few beer label animations in my day (actually, lots of them). It’s a fun process…you get the label illustration, you break it up, and then you kind of get the chance to do whatever you want to make it come alive.
This one feels kind of like a gift. Although I didn’t work with him directly, everything was handled through an agency, I feel fortunate that I got to get my messy little hands on the fantastic work of Victor Melendez. A real honor, honestly…I mean, click that link on his name and check out his work. So good!
My brief was pretty simple: take his animals and make something that resolves to the can. So I broke up all the assets, rigged up some tails and wings, and made some psychedelic transitions. Done.
The fact that Redhook utilizes local artists, and supports the local music scene in so many different ways, means a lot to me. I’d do this stuff all day if they’d let me.
